There are two common things that happen around this time of year: taking in what was accomplished over the year, and planning for the next. To be honest, I haven’t really don’t this until deciding to take my company seriously a few years ago.

One thing that I have seen in the M&A circles is that this year is expecting to see a growth of activity. Granted they were saying something similar this year too, but it was more towards the back half of the year.

What do the two have in common?

If you haven’t been brought in to the conversations regarding your company’s future acquisitions, then expect to very soon. When you do, do you know what your company’s IT initiatives look like, and how would that play out with the acquisitions your company is looking to do?

This is why I’m a proponent of the self-assessment to gauge your strengths and weaknesses while proactively looking at how the new pieces will fit in.
