Who are your users?
One of the biggest drivers for the merger and acquisition activity is to increase your customer base. It could be for your existing products/services or to enter into a new vertical.
When it comes to these new users, a few questions should be bubbling up:
- What and where is the official source of truth for these users?
- How is access controlled to the underlying applications?
- How are the controls and the users kept in sync?
- How does user creation/deletion/updates work?
- What will be different when initially on-boarding the users for the first time after close and how users are on-boarded normally?
If you think I’m talking about just the new customers, think again! This also applies to any employees coming onboard.
As you dive into these questions, others will come up that will then guide you towards what to focus on, and more importantly, how much of your process, policies, and tooling will need to change to account for the new users.
One last question that you should get an idea on first and foremost is how many users will be brought over or impacted. While the other questions address scope, this will address the scale/performance impact.
How does your environment look?
